Alicia Marie Lawrence

Alicia Lawrence is an urban contemporary artist, shamanic graphic designer, and creative writer. Alicia works in traditional and digital mediums, and is in continual exploration of her Alberta Plains Cree-Métis ancestry as she practices reflective positioning between subject, artist and audience. She participated in Aboriginal Student Art exhibits art Emily Carr University of Art + Design in British Columbia, and examined contemporary Indigenous identity in her academic scholarship. She has worked with Indigenous artists, writers, and musicians, including radio interviews with Haisla author Eden Robinson and Tahltan Nation artist Peter Morin, illustrated for articles featuring Tanya Tagaq, Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory, and the CITR Indigenous Collective, and was mentored by Cree-Métis poet Marilyn Dumont, along with other great teachers who have contributed to her life experience and growth as an artist.
