Full-day intermediate beading workshop, Every Child Matters photo frame with Talena and Courtney, Six Nations of the Grand River, Haudenosaunee territory.

Priority given to Haudenosaunee-identified participants for raised beadwork. Raised beadwork stitches will include bird’s nest, leaf/petal, and rope.

Non-Haudenosaunee participants can do flat beadwork photo frame. Participants should already be very familiar with basic beadwork techniques or they won’t be able to finish on time.

Courtney Skye is Mohawk, Turtle Clan, from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. She has learned Haudenosaunee art from many community-based artists. Her art practice includes beadwork, leatherwork, photography, basket weaving, clay work, and sculpture.
Talena Atfield is Mohawk from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory on her father’s side and grew up urban. She works primarily with beads and leather but also enjoys sewing and weaving. Talena has been beading for ten years and has acquired her teachings through a mixture of self-directed learning and community-based artists.
