Anishinaabe, Ontario

I am an Anishinaabe artist who wants to share the beauty I see with others through my beaded works and jewelry.

When I was young the church had a very negative view on the Indigenous way of life which greatly influenced my family. As a result, I started my journey towards understanding my Indigenous culture as a young adult. However, as far back as I can remember I have always felt a close connection with Mother Earth, Grandmother Moon, the four-legged and the winged.

I learned from various Grandmothers, Knowledge Keepers and fellow Indigenous artist through lodges, gatherings, and workshops. Most of my beaded works and jewelry depict nature and animals. When I create my pieces, it helps me on my healing path. I contemplate about my ancestors and how they lived before and after the settlers arrived to Turtle Island. I reflect on how blessed I am to be able to freely connect with the Creator.

I hope my creations make the beholder happy and proud to be Indigenous or an Indigenous supporter.
