Ashley Crow Chief
Blackfoot, Siksika Treaty 7 Territory Alberta
My name is Ashley Crow Chief, I am Blackfoot 2s artist from Siksika Treaty 7 Territory.
My work is a direct reflection of my journey into discovering my roots, who I am as mother, and who I am as an Indigenous woman. Although I do love painting, I like to incorporate my art into everyday things whether it’s a small craft or a new design for a piece of clothing.
I am professional trained in digital film and video with a certificate from the Art institute of Vancouver. While my main practice has been in various film and theatre projects including acting, directing and management, my journey has brought me back to an old love of simply creating what I can envision in my mind.
I strive to teach people and myself about Blackfoot culture and help elevate other artists by invoking thoughts and questions. My goal is to eventually have a studio where Aboriginal artists can comfortably express themselves and heal through their preferred art form. I created Acrowz as a place where I can create my own projects and designs and collaborate with others.
As of right now I have clothes designs on my page and I am selling my personal paintings in small hanging art pieces. I will soon have future projects that will incorporate more mix materials.
