My name is Doreen Somers-Cardinal. My mother is from Tyendinaga and my father is from Chapleau Cree First Nation. I currently live in my husbands territory, Treaty #8. I am passionate about our traditions, culture and ceremony. I love to sew, whether I am beading or creating moccasins or a ribbon skirt. I have been taught by my grandmother and one of my aunts. I also sew in a group of real deadly women where I currently live. We learn, laugh and pass on traditions, just as our ancestors have done.
