Kablu (Miranda) Porter

Inuit, Nova Scotia

Since a young age I have been sewing by hand. I grew up watching my mother, grandparents, and Elders from my home community. I learned that sewing was and still is a useful skill.

I always had a strive to create, and I love making my friends and family warm clothing and beautiful gifts. Especially during the cold winter days.

I make all my patterns myself; I sew every project with passion and good intentions. I was taught that we use the whole entire animal, rather than just for meat and fur. Every part of an animal is important. I am hoping to teach and share these same skills and values to my daughter.

I hope to share my work with others, and make people happy and warm with my Urban Inuk creations.
