Ruby Sweezey | Ruby’s Art Metal Decor

Ruby Carol Sweezey

Ruby Sweezey

Algonquin, Ontario

As a member of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan, Ruby is an accomplished artist with over 30 years of experience. Her repertoire includes large commissioned pieces, original paintings, as well as working with other artists. With the desire to challenge and extend her artistic expression, Ruby enrolled and completed the Metal Fabrication Technician program in Sault College where she learned fundamental fabricating and welding techniques. Ruby's instructors were impressed with her ability to apply metal fabrication and welding techniques to the creation of artwork, as it is not a typical career path for those in the program.

Ruby has always been guided by her culture, which shines through her work. Her Art Metal Decor is a way of thinking, a way of expression. It relates to her story through creativity and the different mediums she uses within her artwork. Ruby loves that she can use her art to tell the stories of First Nation Peoples and express the creativity and originality of Indigenous culture.
