Samantha Stevens
Anishinaabe, Nipissing First Nation
Samantha is an Indigenous, Anishinaabekwe Grandmother, and mother. She resides in Nipissing First Nation, Robinson Huron Treaty. While most of Samantha’s artistry has been self taught, she has had a lot of inspiration from her parent’s, grandparents, friends and Elders. As a child she remembers watching her grandmother sew, and seeing friends and Elders bead, which inspired her to make beautiful creations on her own.
Samantha is both an Indigenous Vendor and Workshop Facilitator but her main focus is custom designs in clothing and jewelry. She combines traditional designs with modern fashion to create beautiful and unique regalia, such as ribbon shirts, skirts, jingle dresses and grass dance outfits. Samantha also creates Indigenous jewellery with traditional materials such as beaded jewelry, quill work, and leather sewing.
