Maliseet, Wolastoqyik and Ojibwe Ontario

Hello! My name is Sidney, and I am an Indigenous artist in Ontario. I am a member of the St Mary's First Nations in Fredericton New Brunswick. I am Maliseet/Wolastoqyik and Ojibwe.

I am a mother of 2 young children who are little artist themselves. I try and share my knowledge with them so they will be able to share it in the future.

My father taught me to paint and draw as a young girl, and my sister shared her beading experience with me to help with my mental health in my 20's. Beading and art has created a safe place to relax and express my creativity, both mentally and physically.

I have used beading and painting as healthy source of energy to help me heal from my generational trauma, and it is how I show my gratitude to Creator for the life I have been given.
