William Monague
Ojibway
My name is William Monague, I am an Ojibway painter who grew up on Christian Island, Georgian Bay, home of the Beausoleil First Nation Peoples. Currently, I reside in Midland, ON. I am a self taught artist that left Beausoleil First Nation reserve on Christian Island in the 70's and 80's to travel the Pow Wow circuit to sell my art.
Soon after my three daughters Wausa, Wabie, and Awasis were born, my original paintings, carvings and quill work were acquired by curators seeking Indigenous art. My art has been circulated in Washington County Museum of Fine Artst, Royal Ontario Museum and Whetung Ojibwa Centre among others.
