My name is Amanda. I am a Red River Metis woman. My mom comes from St.laurent and my dad was born in Fisher River MB. I started beading as a young child and have been passionate about beading for over 30 years. I used beading as part of my healing journey to teach me patience and to slow down my thought process to be able to focus on what I need to do at that moment.

Some of my greatest ideas come when I'm piecing a project together. Today I also advocate for indigenous rights, work with our most vulnerable populations and continue to promote change where change is needed to create better community for our children.

My teachings come from all over Turtle Island as I have been moved around alot due to Intergenerational trauma and being housed in institutions. I took advantage of the environments I was in to learn everything I could to help me be a better person today. Today I walk with Metis pride and will continue to move forward for myself, my ancestors that couldn't, and my future grandkids.
