Charlene Nuttycombe
Six Nations Reserve of the Grand River
My name is Charlene Nuttycombe, I am a retired woman from the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve No. 40. I am a daughter of a survivor of the Mohawk Residential School and learned how to sew from my Mother. I've always loved doing artwork and crafting since a child in school to adulthood.
For the last 25+ years, I have been crafting, sewing and learning new skills to add to my repertoire. I learned some of the beadwork and other crafts I do from attending workshops provided by my community or from friends. Everything that I create is done with a good mind, good heart, love and pride. Without my community, family and friends, being an artist would not have been possible as they have been such a great support to me.
