I came late in life to embrace my ancestry. I have been on Tribal Journeys for three years and looking forward to another journey this year. In all the work I do I look to blend western and eastern styles of art.

My personal journey to understand where I come from is done in art. I blend traditional art with contemporary. My art is produced both by hand and using computers and modern tools such as laser cutters. I first started by building Traditional Native North American 5-hole flutes. All my flutes are made of branches harvested locally. I then started making jewelry, earrings, chokers, necklaces and bolo ties. Using both traditional tools and computer aided tools. I also use computer aided tools to crave my art in wood and bone.

The next part of my journey will be creating music and stories inspired by traditional songs and stories as contemporary art.

Migwan is Ojibway for feather. All my flutes are decorated with a feather. You can find more about my work at migwan.ca.
