Hello, my name is Laura, and I am a self-taught artist.

I have always had the encouragement to create my own modern style while incorporating traditional symbolism in my paintings. Support and teachings were given to me by my uncles, artist Peter Migwans, and artist John Laford. Similarly, I have always had the support of artist and Knowledge Keeper, Don Ense, whom I am long term friends.

I received teachings about ribbon skirt making at NCFST where I also took Anishinaabemowin classes. Beadwork I was grateful to learn from my aunts and cousins.
