Laura Mulks-Elworthy

Métis, British Columbia

I am Anishinaabe/Ojibwe and Mètis on my father’s side of the family, my ancestors descend from The Pembina band of Red Bear Chippewa. As such I respect and feel very called to represent the beauty, value, and spirit of all nature in my art. Everything in nature is interconnected. My sculpture work is self taught. My bead working skills I have learned through researching the skills of my ancestors, along with attending Indigenous friendship circles and many workshops. A few of my most recent mentors have been Bruce Dumont and Kim Stewart, along with many others.
