My name is Caroline Lalonde. My spirit name is Shipek Mikunis, which means “Feather Falling to the Ocean.” I am Bear Clan, and I am from Sachigo Lake First Nation.

I’ve been on my path toward rediscovering my culture since I was 16 and it was then that I fell in love with it beading. It really came naturally to me. I believe I received this gift from my great Nokom! As I later found out in life that she was known for her beading in her community and beyond.
